NHCA 2024 Virtual Round Table

This virtual round table will provide a preview of topics that will be presented at the 2024 National Hearing Conservation Association meeting in Albuquerque, NM.  One exciting event at the NHCA meeting will be the screening of the film, The Quietest Year, 2021, a documentary about one community’s challenges with noise.  Les Blomberg from the Noise Pollution Clearinghouse will share about the topic of community noise, community noise ordinances, legislation and enforcement.  A focus of NHCA has been professional service providers (PSPs).  Amy Blank (US Army) and Karen Turner (Protec Hearing Inc.) will lead a discussion for PSPs: What is their role?  Where do they work? How did you get started in the field?  High level impact or impulse noise present an increased risk of hearing loss.  Greg Flamme (SASRAC) will be giving us the 411 about how to measure, assess, and protect workers noise exposures that can include impulsive noise.  After the recent International Hearing Protector Fit Testing Symposium, Laurie Wells (3M) will be tackling several questions: How do you select a protector?  What are the options for fit testing?  What standards currently exist for hearing protector fit testing?  Finally, Bill Murphy (SASRAC) will remind us about the upcoming NHCA conference.  Please join the discussion.
